Lazy Sunday afternoon...
Beginning of our 2nd week in Barcelona. Had moved to our 2nd room in the historic hotel 1898. In the morning our room was alive with the singing coming from the church next door. Went up to the roof to catch a few rays but it kept clouding over. Went for lunch and it was brilliant sunshine! A little Spanish boy made us laugh when he discovered there was chocolate ice-cream available for pudding and did the classic "yes" clenched fist elbow to waist gesture. Maybe he's a distant relative of my Dad?
As it wasn't a work day we decide to go sight seeing. Caught the tourist bus and stopped at the tourist "Spanish village" created to show all the different styles of Spanish architecture - really fascinating. The dodgy walk up to the "Roman"cafe obviously complied with all European safety laws, but the panoramic view of Barcelona was worth it and allowed Ash to play with his new camera phone and pretend he was Andy Warhol.
It's a bit windy, are my fingers all still there?
Just like Warhol's Marilyn Monroe? (Probably)
Went down to the waterfront by cable car, there's no other way to travel don't you know...
and after exploring the Arts 5* hotel and a quick pitstop lazing on the daybeds at Shoko watching some very tasty football players on the beach (OK, more Sam) we embarked on our longest beach walk yet. Found an excellent beach café, a bar with a "yachtie" night and a bar with yummy, fresh, cheap veggie food - but rather dim brit staff. Thanks Gav for the tip to check out that stretch. We then wandered through the gothic quarter – finding 2 more veggie restaurants for another time - I love this place!
